Repairing ruptures in the therapeutic alliance – online workshop

TIME: March 22, 2023 at 16:00-19:00 PM Central European time (10:00-13:00 Eastern time)

LOCATION: Online, Zoom

PRICE: 75 Euros (Full members of the International Deliberate Practice Society: 55 Euros)

Ruptures in the therapeutic alliance are difficult for most therapists and clients. They can be both difficult to detect, point out and, not least, handle. At the same time, we know from psychotherapy research that a successful handling of the breach of alliance strongly influences a positive therapy outcome. This way, ruptures actually represent golden therapeutic opportunities.

But how do we DO it? There is a lot of literature on the subject, but few resources for skills training. And it is precisely training that is needed when knowledge is to be passed on to skills.

That´s where this workshop comes into play!

In this workshop you will ‘learn how to learn’ - learn in a way that not only builds knowledge, but translates that knowledge to skills you can use with actual patients.

Your learning outcomes:

-       You will understand what deliberate practice is and learn how to learn better.

-       You get the opportunity to try it out in practice, through training on a central therapeutic skill: Dealing with alliance breakdowns.

-       You get help to establish your own training routine.

-       You will meet like-minded colleagues who share our interest and curiosity for deliberate practice.

-       You learn to adapt the training so that it challenges you appropriately - instead of being too comfortable or overwhelming.

Click here for an example skill, one of many we will practice together!
